MLS Nightmare

The nightmare has now occurred, the golden boy David Beckham is hurt once again. This time though it is serious and he will probably miss the rest of the season. Sprained Knee.

Why is this a nightmare, well first reason is the bad pub that MLS is receiving because he was playing on a gimpy ankle. I believe this is a load of crap, He played for Real Madrid on a injured ankle, and crap he went to England and played in a friendly for the entire game on that ankle. If David has a bum ankle then he should be saying, Steve I shouldn't play in this game, or Steve I cannot play the entire game. What European team games are important? You cannot cry that league games are important in Europe, and not anywhere else. David screwed up big time. He can't go to Dallas or Colorado because of his ankle, but he can fly to England with that ankle? David while I believe your ankle is hurt, England games are not more important than MLS games. Vasco has no problems with you playing national team games with England, but not while your hurt, instead of MLS games.

Second MLS will get bad pub, why did most teams raise prices or tied tickets with the Galaxy games to multi games packages, and now are screaming we can't guarantee that anyone will play. Well you advertised and sold the games based on David Beckham being there, now he won't be, and you are saying tough crap in not so many words. It is hard to say greed but it really is, even though these teams aren't making money and want to make some money and they are using David to help raise that money. You can't advertise and sell based on one man and not expect to refund or something if he doesn't play or show. Even if it is because of injury. If you sold the game regular price and single game, then you can say he is hurt we can't do anything. If you raised the price or added it to a package, then you owe your ticket holder something, even if it is making the games promotional nights. You know you have a bunch of promo items in storage somewhere.

Third Alexi Lalas, now I have defended this guy some, but when he came out and cried about the MLS schedule and we won't do this again. Alexi exhibitions against Vancouver and Minnesota, and a Tour of Asia and Australia remember them. Alexi you cannot whine about the MLS schedule and then do the same thing yourself with the exhibition games. Sorry Alexi, I have defended you in the past I can't do that here, and it is time for you to go, the only reason why your having problems is the team you have assembled this year. and the big question here is if you will actually win 4 games this year.

Fourth, while it is annoying to only show David in the highlights of games, there was still soccer highlights on the national news. Fox news was showing them, heck they had a nice piece when LA game to New York. That will not happen now, no free publicity anymore.

Well now we can all put this to bed and move onto the end of the season. I am putting my money on Real Salt Lake on becoming a huge spoiler. Three Argentines and a huge Victory Wednesday evening, RSL looked like an entirely different team. Looking for a huge victory tonight in LA.
